Lake Norman Shelties
We are a small hobby kennel located in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina. We strive for standard correct shelties that also have the right personality to become beloved family members when we place our dogs in pet homes. We show in AKC, UKC and IABCA. From time to time we have puppies available to pet homes.
We have had shelties for over 23 years and it started with a girl named Thunder. We got her from an Amish family. She was so smart and gentle, we loved her and lost her at the age of 9 with kidney disease. By that time we were here in North Carolina and decided to do some research for our next sheltie. We wanted a quality breeder this time and a healthy puppy. I stalked several websites and learned as much as I could. We found a beautiful puppy coming available and that started a new love story with Daisy. Daisy passed at 12 from cancer. We took a year off to deal with our loss, that was a really tough one as you may already know. I always wanted to get more involved with the breed and as time went on, I researched more and more about the breed and then became interested in learning about showing
When we were finally ready to add another family member, I decided to really research and look into showing with our new puppy. Linda Wilson with Kintyre Shelties took me under her wing and taught me a lot. I helped her with whelping several litters and she has trusted us with one of her male puppies. Ollie, or Kintyre’s Sir Oliver is our foundation to our kennel.
Since then we have added two girls, Waffles and Lulu, also through Linda and her help and guidance! We are working on their health testing as they are appropriate in age. We do DNA testing for health and the absence of 5 different diseases. We also do OFA hips and eyes. All of our dogs either have or will have their CHIC as soon as they are old enough to do the testing. Ollie and Waffles have their CHIC already. Lulu will have hers within the year as well.
